The Philippine Dental Association in Cagayan de Oro has issued a warning to the public about the dangers of using DIY braces. These products, which are often marketed as a cheaper alternative to professional dental work, can cause serious health risks such as HIV and Hepatitis infections. The association urges everyone to avoid using such products and to seek professional dental services from licensed dentists.
It is important to note that practicing dentistry without a license is considered illegal and punishable by law. Under Republic Act 9848, individuals who engage in illegal practice of dentistry can face a fine of up to P 500,000.00 or up to 5 years in prison or both. This law was put in place to protect the public from untrained and unqualified individuals who pose a risk to their health and safety.
In light of this, the Philippine Dental Association encourages everyone to report any incidents or suspicions of illegal practice of dentistry to the appropriate authorities. Hotlines have been set up for this purpose, and concerned citizens can contact the PNP, NBI, CIDG, or PDA to report any illegal activity.
The health and safety of the public is a top priority for the Philippine Dental Association, and they urge everyone to prioritize their own health by seeking professional dental services from licensed dentists. It is important to remember that cutting corners on dental work can have serious consequences, and it is always better to invest in one’s own health and wellbeing.
